K2 Maths: Telling Time (Activity)

Create your own clock to help you child to tell the correct time.

Materials Needed:

Paper Plate
Colored Paper
Colored Paint or Marker
Compass
Protractor
Ruler
Pencil
2 Popsicle sticks
Post Screw
Glue
Scissors

Procedure:

1. Using your compass and ruler measure the size of the inner circle of your paper plate.  Draw a same sized circle in a piece of colored paper.

2. Using your protractor and ruler divide the circle evenly to produce the divisions of the clock and paste your colored paper on top of the paper plate.

3. On the colored paper proceed to mark the divisions you have made to represent the hours on a clock. On the outside of your colored paper write down the minutes on a clock using either colored markers or poster paint.  No need to write down all the minutes of the clock, just the major division by intervals of 5.  You can designate the minor divisions by lines. Let your clock dry.

4. Using 2 Popsicle sticks, you may now make the hands of the clock. Just make sure that 1 hand is shorter than the other.  Punch holes at the end of your Popsicle sticks and at the middle of your paper plate, just enough to fit your post screw.

5. Using you post screw, secure the Popsicle sticks on the middle of your paper plate.
6. Congratulations your done...
