Paper Wind Mill Experiment

Wind is such a powerful force of nature, it can blow away even the strongest of man made structures. You can even harness it's power to make electricity.  Although we know the effects of wind, we can't actually see it or contain it in the palm of our hands.  Despite this you know it is there as you can feel it fill your lungs as you breath and as it brushes your skin when it moves.   To help us understand better the effects of wind, here's a simple experiment using paper wind mills that is both fun and insightful.

Materials Needed:
Colored paper
Popsicle Sticks
Scissors
One hole punch
Post screws
Tape
Glue

Procedure:
1. You can download  and print the Paper Windmill patter from the link below:

2.  Cut out the pattern and make holes using your one hole punch.

3. Bend the corners inward and glue them together.  Make sure the holes line up one on top of the other.

4.  Punch a hole through your Popsicle stick.  You may need to add another Popsicle stick at the end to make it longer.

5.  Push the post screw through the holes and all the way through the Popsicle stick and secure it at the end by fastening the screw.

6. You can now enjoy playing with your paper wind mill out doors or you by putting it in front of an electric fan.
